How to Ditch That Lingering Excuse

You can always find an excuse to give up, or you can always intentionally look for a reason to give it your best.

You can always find an excuse to half-ass it, or you can always intentionally look for a reason to give it your best.⁣

Leaders choose the latter. It's that simple⁣

When you feel yourself justifying an excuse instead of doing the necessary work (train, read, career skill development, etc) to the best of your ability, hit a Zac Morris "timeout."

Take a deep breath, and then:

  1. Write down the excuse
  2. Write down why it would be better to ignore the excuse and do _______ (think of this from a post-action perspective as if you've done the work & are looking back)
  3. Tear up the paper & your excuse
  4. Get to work

Excuses will always be there, our opportunities will not. The way we ensure our preparedness for when an opportunity arrives is by ignoring our excuses in the interim and simply doing the work every day to get better - motivated or not.⁣

Let's win the weekend by making sure we start it free of that excuse.
