Monday Motivation: Be a Difference Maker

“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us...

“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” – Robert F. Kennedy

You are a difference maker.

Never – ever – doubt your ability to make a difference.

No action – no matter how small – if done to improve the life of another matters. Too often we doubt our ability to make a difference because we can’t change everything all at once. We lose sight that making a difference in one person – just one – changes the world for them.

This idea of Competing to pay it forward – doing one small deed a day to make someone else’s day or life better – is how you change the world. If each of us took on this challenge and chose to Compete for more than just our own life, imagine the good that would do. Paying for a stranger’s cup of coffee. Helping that coworker you’ve never talked to with a company project. Giving that person you pass every day a bottle of water and sandwich.

Thousands of people doing one deed a day for another – and that good will spreads like wildfire. But it all starts with one person doing one deed for someone else.

It all starts with you and with me.

So today, with this immense power to make a difference in one person’s life, what will you Compete to do?
